Wilhelmina Hines Roda

Wilhelmina Hines Roda, age 89, died peacefully at her home in Garrison on December 19, 2004. Born in Congers, N.Y., on August 17, 1915, the third of four sisters, she was a graduate of New Paltz Normal School.

Willie will be remembered by those who loved her as a classy, compassionate, dedicated, kind, and fair lady with a sense of humor and a twinkle in her eye. In the community shewas known as a beloved teacher at the Garrison Union Free School and a member of the Board of Education. She was active in the Philipstown Garden Club for 25 years and a founding member of the Garrison Ambulance Corps as well as the Mother Lurana House Adult Social Day Care Center.

Willie was predeceased by her husband, Robert. She is survived by her four children: JoAnn Brown, Chuck, Rick, and Mary Roda, and eight grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held at the Clinton Funeral Home, corner of Parrott & Pine Streets in Cold Spring on Wednesday, December 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Philips Church in the Highlands on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 11 am. Private cremation will follow in Ferncliff Crematory in Hartsdale.
