Margaret [Pegi] Clark Pearson

Margaret [Pegi] Clark Pearson died January 27, 2004 in Bradenton, Florida. She came to Sarasota 15 years ago from Garrison, NY.

Pegi was a writer and artist. She wrote many books and was a member of the Sarasota Fiction Writers, Poetryworks, and The Naked Poets Society. Pegi was also a founder of the Garrison Art Center in Garrison, NY and a member of the Sarasota Arts Council and Art Target. She exhibited her work in New York, St. Louis, and Florida and she taught painting in the Sarasota area. Pegi contributed generously and regularly to many social and environmental causes. She was passionate about speaking her mind and acting to make the world better.

She is survived by her sons Scott Pearson of Garrison, NY and Ian Pearson of Denver, CO, her daughters Leslie Pierpont of Lamy, NM and Tate Pearson of San Rafael, CA, her brother Matt Clark of Fort Worth, TX, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A celebration of Pegi’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at the Clay Gully Pavilion at Myakka River State Park.

Pegi was a sensitive and caring human being, deeply concerned by the current social and political direction of the America she loved so much. Memorial donations may be made to the election of a Democrat President.
