Mitchell Dul Announces Candidacy for Mayor of Nelsonville

A sixteen-year resident of the Village, Dul has served as a member of the Nelsonville Zoning Board of Appeals, the Joint Butterfield Hospital Committee and was Chairman of the Greenway Committee prior to being elected as a Village trustee. Dul served as a Trustee for three terms before being elected Mayor in March 2003.

Mayor Dul has concentrated his efforts on issues of infrastructure and quality of life within the Village. "We have completed a major drainage project on Healy Road that now conveys water away from the homes in the area and prevents hazardous ice from accumulating. This effort involved cooperative partnering with the County, State, Town and private citizens." In another initiative, and with the participation of State Senator Liebel’s office, the Village was awarded a grant from the State Department of Transportation for future infrastructure improvements. In addition, with the participation of our County Representative, Vinny Tamagna, and the office of State Representative, Susan Kelly, Dul has applied for federal funding to enhance the character of the Village.

Recently, the local municipalities have been contacted by Hudson Valley Hospital in an effort to try to find a way to manage the former Butterfield Hospital. "It is critical that local input continue and that the needs of our citizens be factored into any decisions that are made. We have begun a dialog that we hope will involve the County and will provide service to the community. As a healthcare provider and administrator, I understand the intricacies of healthcare management and will continue to work with the Mayor of Cold Spring, the Philipstown Town Supervisor and the County Executive on this important matter."

"As Mayor, I will continue to explore opportunities for funding and partnering to enhance the quality of life in Nelsonville," concludes Dul.
