Helen D. Iversen Van Tassel

Helen D. Iversen Van Tassel passed away on Monday, April 18, 2005. She was surrounded by her loving children, who cared for her through a valiant and courageous battle against Schleraderma, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s disease.

Mom was born in Beacon, NY on December 27, 1930. She was the daughter of Berge and Leah (Branson) Iversen.

On August 26, 1950 she married Frederick W. Van Tassel, who predeceased her on February 16, 2000. She was also predeceased by a brother, Berge Iversen, and a sister, Betty DeSantis.

She is survived by her five children, Donna, of Cold Spring, Tommy and his wife Pat of Arizona, Betsey and her husband Tommy Ninnie of Beacon, Patty and her husband Joey Pidala, and Buddy, all of Cold Spring. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Matt and Kristin Van Tassel of Arizona, Jennifer Edge and her husband Jason, Alison Ninnie and her fiancé Vincent Taylor, all of Beacon, and Brandon Pidala of Cold Spring. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Kimberly Edge of Beacon. A brother, Jack Iversen, and a brother and sister-in-law, George and Teresa Van Tassel of Cold Spring, and several nieces and nephews.

Her children will always remember their Mom as a fun, loving, great devoted Mom and wish all who knew her to recall her kind and loving way of life.

To honor Mom’s wishes, funeral services are private, with a Memorial Mass to be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Philipstown Ambulance Corps or Our Lady of Loretto Church.
