Charles J. Peparo
Charles J. Peparo,age 83 of Nelsonville, NY died on Sunday May 29, 2005, at his residence.
Born in Cold Spring, NY on February 14, 1922, he was the son of the late Orazio James and Helen Irene (Delsantri) Piparo.
Mr. Peparo was a retired Administrative Assistant for Schenley Industries in New York, NY. During his retirement he worked for the Philipstown Highway Department. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army during WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. Charles was aboard ship in Tokyo Bay when Japan surrendered. He is a lifelong resident of the Cold Spring and Nelsonville area. Mr. Peparo was a Parishioner of Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring, a member of the George A. Casey Post # 275 of the American Legion, and a member of the James Harvey Hustis Post # 2362 of the V. F. W. He was also a former member of the Nelsonville Fire Co.
Mr. Peparo was predeceased by his wife Rita E. (Nolan) Peparo in January of 2000. He is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Gilman of Garrison, NY and by one son Michael Peparo of Nelsonville, one sister, Sally Peparo of Cold Spring, three grandchildren, Josiah J. Peparo, Ryan A. Peparo, and Helen A. Peparo, all of Cold Spring. One sister, Florence Nolan, predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian Burial was said on Friday, June 3 at Our Lady of Loretto Church Cold Spring. Interment followed in Cold Spring Cemetery. Donations may be made in Mr. Peparo’s name to the Our Lady of Loretto Church Restoration Fund, 24 Fair St. Cold Spring, NY 10516.
