Gerald E. Bowden

Gerald E. Bowden, age 63, a lifelong Cold Spring/Garrison resident died on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center, in Cortlandt Manor, NY.

Born in Cold Spring on September 29, 1941, he was the son of the late Herbert Ellis Bowden and Barbara Curtis Walker of Garrison. His stepfather, Robert C. Walker, also predeceased him.

Mr. Bowden was a self-employed mechanic operating a mobile auto repair business. He was a US Air Force veteran having served during the Vietnam War from 1963-1967. Mr. Bowden was a member of the Poughkeepsie Sports Car Club and founding member of the Studebaker Drivers Club in the Hudson Valley area. He had a great love of trains, cameras, and automobiles.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Nancy (Slinskey) Bowden, of the home address; two sons, Gerald Bowden Jr. of Kingston, and Raymond and Gail Bowden of Elizaville; two daughters, Rebecca Bowden of Hopewell Junction, and Alethea and Shane Hutchison, of Verbank, and two brothers, Roger Bowden of Chicopee, MA and Robert Walker of Wake Forrest, NC. Three grandchildren, Shelby Hutchison, Bryan Baker, and Branden Baker, also survive.

Funeral services were held at St. Philips Church in the Highlands on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 and interment followed at St. Philips Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Clinton Funeral Home, Corner of Parrott and Pine Sts., Cold Spring.
