Francine Ann Karagas

Francine Ann Karagas, age 19, of Cold Spring, NY, died suddenly on Saturday, November 19, 2005.

Born in Merrillville, IN on April 25, 1986, she is the daughter of Fr. James and Laurie (Melevage) Karagas of Cold Spring.

Francine, a 2004 graduate of Haldane High School, was a student at Dutchess Community College. She was a Cold Spring area resident since 1999, coming from Georgia. Francine was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Newburgh, NY. She was also a member of the Philipstown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and a Market America unfranchise owner, an Internet product brokerage.

In addition to her parents, of the home address, two sisters, Athena Karagas and Kelly Karagas, survive her. Francine is also survived a large extended family which includes her paternal grandmother, Frances Karagas, of Birmingham, AL, aunts and uncles: Celeste and Dan Underwood, Raymond and Kate Melevage, Kerry and Ginger Karagas, Bernie and Duke Pakalniskis, Mark Karagas, Alan Melevage, John and Leigh Karagas, and Lynnette and Dale Fredericks, 21 cousins, 8 second cousins, and her Godfather, Jim Kovakas. Several great aunts and uncles, Msgr. Ferdinan Melevage, Virginia Melevage, Katherine Hadgigeorge, Bernard and Judy Melevage, Jim and Penny Kovakas, and Irene and George Chiotakis, also survive her.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Newburgh, NY on Wednesday, November 23 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery. A Trisagion Service took place on Tuesday evening at the Clinton Funeral Home, Corner of Parrott & Pine Streets, Cold Spring, NY.
