June Esther Talarico

June Esther Talarico, a long time resident of Cold Spring, died on November 16, 2005.

She was born in Peekskill on June 19, 1923 to Harry and Margaret (Kreuzeweiser) Young and was one of five children. She worked many years at the Marathon Battery Factory in Cold Spring, from which she retired.

June was active in many organizations, including the Cold Spring Seniors, the Highland Garden Club, the AARP and was a faithful member of the Catholic Daughters. June was an avid and accomplished baker and was well known for her donations of baked goods to many organizations or sales in town. She often said that baking was her therapy. June married the late Dominick Talarico, a World War II survivor of Pearl Harbor, on October 16, 1949 in the Lady of Loretto Church, Cold Spring. She is survived by her son Michael, his wife and three granddaughters and also two devoted brothers Vernon Young and Frederick Young as well as a great number of loving and attentive friends. June was predeceased by her husband Dominick and her two brothers Arthur and Adrian Young.

A beautiful graveside service was conducted by Father Brian McSweeney, Pastor of Our Lady of Loretto Church, Cold Spring on Wednesday, November 30 at the Cold Spring Cemetery. There will be a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Loretto Church at a later date.
