Concetta Garufi, age 80, a life-long Cold Spring resident, died on Monday, December 19, 2005 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY.
A homemaker and loving caregiver, Mrs. Garufi was born in Cold Spring on September 14, 1925, the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Antonina (Arrao) Giachinta.
Mrs. Garufi is survived by her devoted husband, Carmelo Garufi, and three children, Anthony Garufi of Cold Spring, Rosanne Peparo of Cold Spring, and Regina Houston of Hopewell Junction. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Josiah Peparo, Ryan Peparo, Helen Peparo, Anthony Garufi, Amanda Garufi, Samantha Garufi, Robert D’Angelo, James Houston, April Houston, and Christopher Godsey. One sister, Mary Pidala, and one brother, Aurelio Giachinta, both of Cold Spring, also survive.
Mrs. Garufi was predeceased by her daughter, Antonia Godsey, as well as one sister, Josephine Pidala, and one brother, Antonio Giachinta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Cold Spring at 10 am. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the Clinton Funeral Home, Corner of Parrott & Pine Streets, Cold Spring, on Wednesday, December 21 from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made in Mrs. Garufi’s name to The American Diabetes Association, 149 Madison Ave., Room 701, New York, NY, 10016. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clinton Funeral Home, Cold Spring, NY.
