Ernest Baxter, age 80, of Garrison, NY died on Monday December 26, 2005 at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor, NY.
Born in Garrison on February 12, 1925 he was the son of the late Ferris Jaycox and Lydia (Budd) Baxter.
Mr. Baxter was a U. S. Army veteran serving for 22 years from 1943-64, retiring as a Staff Sgt. in the Signal Corps. He also worked for many years as a Chemical Engineer for IBM in East Fishkill, NY. Other than during his military service, he had been a lifetime Garrison resident. Mr. Baxter was a member of the South Highlands United Methodist Church and had been very active in many Church functions. He was also a member of the George A. Casey Post # 275 of the American Legion. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Eloise Skipper Baxter. Two sons, Gary Baxter of Garrison, NY, and William E. Baxter of Orlando, FL, one daughter, Ann Bouchard of Cold Spring, NY, and two grandchildren, Todd Bouchard and Lisa Bouchard, also survive him. Mr. Baxter was predeceased by one grandson, Jason Bouchard, and a sister, Martha Baxter.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 10:00 am, at the Clinton Funeral Home, Corner of Parrott and Pine Streets in Cold Spring, NY. Friends may call from 9-10 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations may be made in Mr. Baxter’s name to South Highlands United Methodist Church, Route 9, Garrison, NY 10524.
