Joel L. Walker
Joel L. Walker, 74, a resident of Dover Plains since 1998, and formerly of Garrison, died at his home on Wednesday, July 12, 2006.
In 1992, Joel retired after 32 years of service at The Bank of New York, where he had served as Regional Marketing Coordinator and Assistant Vice President. A proud former member of the U.S. Air Force, Joel was actively enlisted from 1952-1960 and served in the Active Reserve from 19601963. He was stationed in Korea from 1954-1955.
His education included the American Institute of Banking and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. An advocate for community service, Joel was active in the American Institute of Banking, Child Care Council, Public/Private Membership Fund for Aging Services, United Way, and the American Red Cross.
Born in Sunnyside, NY on November 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph and Eleanor Walker. On June 6, 1959, he married Jocelyn Vaun Aurick at Stewart Air Force Base in Newburgh. Mrs. Walker predeceased him on March 10, 1996.
Joel is survived by his daughter Jill Underwood and her husband Orval of Poughquag, as well as his four grandsons, Orval, William, Joel, and Garret Underwood of Poughquag.
Interment took place on July 15 at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
