Brewster Arena Hosting Chanukah on Ice Celebration

If you are looking for a unique way to have some Chanukah fun this season, what could be more delightful than a combination of sparkling ice and a dazzling menorah? On Sunday December 17, 2006, from 4:30- 6pm, there will be a enjoyable celebration of Chanukah at "Chanukah on Ice."

Brewster Ice Skating Arena will be exclusively devoted to this family event. Non-stop action and activities will provide a creative and educational Chanukah celebration for Jewish families. Their program will begin with open skating where children and adults can skate to contemporary Jewish music and classic Chanukah songs. Children will be entertained by on-ice festivities including Chanukah-themed races and games.

To add to the fun they will also be making a Chanukah art project to take home. For those

who enjoy putting their hands (in addition to their feet) on the ice, ice carving is just the thing. Guests will be invited to watch the creation of a giant Chanukah Ice Menorah and see it actually being lit during the festivities. Once completed, the Menorah will stand over 4 feet tall and weigh over 400 pounds!

"We want to bring the spirit of the Chanukah holiday alive for everyone - adults and kids alike," said Rabbi Sholom Deitsch, Director of Chabad Jewish Center of Northern Fairfield County "These are outstanding moments that they won't soon forget."
