The Putnam Valley Tigers (4- 16 last year) have found the Section 1 basketball waters a tad choppy. In five seasons of varsity action, Putnam Valley hasn't come close to a winning campaign, and early indications suggest another tough go after Coach Ralph Smith's Tigers scored just three first-half points and 15 overall in a season opening loss to Nanuet last Friday. One of the rites of spring begins anew as registration for the 2007 season gets under way. Early registration begins now and runs through the end of December at a steep discount. Leonard Freed
Leonard Freed, an internationally acclaimed photographer who lived in Garrison and New York City died of cancer on Nov. 30 at the age of 77. Leonard Freed was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1929 to a working class family of radical Jews from Eastern Europe. Freed took trips to Europe and North Africa in the early 50s and thought he wanted to become a painter. Full Story
