Ruth May Powlis

Ruth May Powlis, of Cold Spring, passed away on December 16, 2006 at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center, Peekskill.

Born February 13, 1931 in Cold Spring, to Walter O’Dell and Mary Wooden O’Dell, she was the wife of the late John “Jack” Powlis Sr. She was a retired Nutritionist for Butterfield Hospital, Cold Spring and a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Beacon.

She is survived by 11 Children; John Powlis, Jr. & his wife Amy of Beacon, Ruth Kniffin & her companion Shawn Scianna of Glenham, Dennis Powlis & his wife Terri of SC, Debbie Pavelock & her husband Frank Jr. of Beacon, Gary Powlis & his wife Susan of Dutchess Junction, Jeffrey Powlis & his wife Barbara of Fishkill, Kevin Powlis & his companion Jodi VanDyke of Cold Spring, Mary Steriti & her fiance Rich Laffin of Beacon, Jacqueline Khan of Beacon, Frederick Powlis & his wife Kim of Dutchess Junction, & Robert Powlis & his wife Linda of Wappingers. 3 Sisters; Dorothy of NC, Esther of Beacon & Mary of CA. 25 Grandchildren, 13 Great-grandchildren, Several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter O’Dell of Pawling.

Services were held on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, under the direction of the Libby Funeral Home, Beacon. She was buried in the Cold Spring Cemetery. Donations may be made to The American Heart Association 301 Manchester Rd. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
