Program on Salamanders Sponsored by Land Trust and FrOGS

The Putnam County Land Trust and Friends of the Great Swamp will be sponsoring the following March programs:

The Night of the Salamander Join this opportunity to explore a vernal pool with naturalist Beth Herr to observe the spring migrations of local amphibians. When conditions are perfect for the spring migration of local amphibians (the first warm spring rain after the return of the phoebe), they will call to let you now when and where to meet. To be placed on the call list, register with Beth Herr at 228-5635. Dress for the weather and wear boots. It will help to bring a flashlight as well. There is no fee for this program.

Turtle Talk Sunday, March 19th at 2 pm Dr. James Utter, Chairman of FrOGS and Beth Herr, naturalist with the Westchester County Department of Parks will share with us the science behind tracking turtles. Dr. Utter has worked with the rare bog turtle and Mr. Herr with the wood turtle. The program is geared for teens through adults and will be held at the Lawlor Building at 2 Route 164 in Patterson. There is no fee for this program. Call Beth at 228-5635 for further information.
