Donated Items Sought for Playground Fundraiser

Donations of children's items are being accepted for the Wee Play Community Project's "ReePlay Sale," a tag sale to be held on Saturday, April 29, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the VFW Memorial Building at Teller and Main Street in Beacon. Proceeds of the sale are to benefit the Wee Play Children's Park, a stimulating play environment for young children, inspired by Cold Spring's Tiny Tot Park. The new play park is located within Beacon's Memorial Park, directly across Fishkill Avenue from the Tallix fine art foundry. The Wee Play Community Project is a group of creative and interested parents, grandparents and other care-givers dedicated to finding and creating imaginative and fun ways for the Mid-Hudson Valley to become more parent and childfriendly. The group's focus is on meeting the needs of the area's youngest citizens, ages 0 6. The cornerstone of the organization is supporting the City of Beacon Recreation Department's commitment to build the Wee Play Children's Park.

Donations of new or gently used clothing, toys, books, movies, furniture, games and accessories are all welcome. For safety and health reasons car seats and stuffed toys will not be accepted.

"We decided to make this our annual fundraiser because it really is such a win-win-win event" said Wee Play Community Project Director Kelly Ellenwood. "Donors get the opportunity to clean their closets and do something positive for the community; the people who come to the sale get fantastic deals on stuff they really need; and the Wee Play Community Project benefits by raising cash to support its programs."

Donors can contact Kelly Ellenwood, Director of the Wee Play Community Project at 845-831-4318 or via e-mail, kelly@weeplayproject.org, to schedule pickup.

For convenience, there are two drop off locations:

Julia Butterfield Memorial Library 10 Morris Ave, Cold Spring 845-265-3040

Echo 484 Main Street, Beacon 845-440-0047.

More information about the group can be found at their w e b s i t e , www.weeplayproject.org.
