| During the last weekend of April and first weekend of May, volunteers from the New York New Jersey Trail Conference assisted the staff of the Clarence Fahnestock State Park in the removal of dangerous trees from various locations in the Park. This assistance was designed to make the public campsite and picnic areas around Pelton Pond, (just west of the Taconic State Parkway on Route 301) safe for park visitors. Certified chain saw volunteers cut up and stacked existing downed trees and gave the area a general cleanup.
Special recognition for the assistance of Mr. Robert Lussier, and his crew, from the Lussier Tree Service located in Putnam Valley. His cooperation and voluntary services are greatly appreciated as is his expertise in the topping of
high standing, dead and dangerous trees in and around the public campgrounds, which hopefully will prevent future injuries and/or deaths.
