Glynwood Center Offers Two-Part Beekeeping Workshop

Rodney Dow, Master Beekeeper and Garrison resident, will be conducting a two-part beekeeping workshop at Glynwood Center on Saturday, June 3 and Saturday, September 9. Although people keep bees for their honey, Mr. Dow will teach participants about more than just honey: he will introduce you to the world of bees and the role of bees in the world.

Part One will cover everything you need to know about getting started with bees. Topics include hive location, equipment, disease control,

bees' reproductive cycle, the sociology of bees, and the organic approach to beekeeping. No equipment is required, but if you have a veil and gloves, please bring them. Part Two will address gathering and extracting honey, as well as over-wintering of bees. The June session will run from 9:30 until 4:30 and the $75 registration fee includes breakfast and lunch.

To register, please call Anita Barber at 265-3338 x 129. Glynwood Center is on route 301 east of Route 9.
