Putnam Valley High School Inducts 2006 Members of Tri-M Music Honor Society

The 2006 Tri-M Inductees
The Putnam Valley Music Department is proud to announce the induction of the 2006 members of the Tri-M Music Honor Society of Putnam Valley High School. The second-ever honor society induction ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 10 at 7 pm in the PVHS Performing Arts Center. Retiring Putnam Valley Elementary School Music Teacher, Fred Schwinger, was the event guest speaker, and PVHS senior and Tri-M member Greg Kroohs performed "Lost in the Wilderness" from Children of Eden.

Mr. Schwinger and longtime Putnam Valley Board of Education Trustee (and PV music supporter) Guy Cohen, were inducted as honorary members of the Putnam Valley chapter of Tri-M.

The new inductees are PVHS students Alicia Benben, Kate Brady, Jackie Cestaro, Mark Forlano, Kyle LaGrutta, Alyssa Marsico, Kelly McAuliffe, Bailey O'Brien, Thomas Peppard, Tony Rush, Peter Ries, and Joelle Sklaar.

The Tri-M Music Honor Society, founded in 1936, is the international music honor society for high school students. It is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership. Through more than 4,500 chartered chapters, TriM has helped thousands of young people provide years of service through music in schools throughout the world.

Tri-M shares and supports the objectives of every dedicated music educator to increase student and school involvement with music and to make a stronger and more unified school music program. Tri-M is a program of MENC: The National Association for Music Education, the largest non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of music education.

For more information on Tri-M or any other aspect of the PVHS music program, please contact: Ryan Odell or Gerard Micera in the Putnam Valley High School Music Department at 845-526-7847 ext. 1382/3.
