Shadow-A-Teacher Day Offers Opportunity in Putnam Valley
Grace Dash Bisogne and Angela Capodanno, supervisors of the Putnam Valley High School Future Teachers' Club, report that on March 29th, six PVHS students from the Future Teachers' Club participated in their second annual "Shadow-A-Teacher Day." The future teachers spent the entire school day with Putnam Valley teachers at the Elementary and Middle School levels who willingly participated. The students had the opportunity to observe classes, assist teachers, and experience a day in the life of a teacher. Ms Capodanno commented, "It was a meaningful and enjoyable day that gave the students insight into a career in education."
PVHS Assistant Principal, Dr. David Fine, added, "The Future Teachers club gives our youngsters a wonderful opportunity to investigate and learn about the art/craft of teaching." Fine sent appreciation to "advisors and students involved for making it a successful program within PVHS. Their dedication enables today's students to be that much more aware of what we educators do each and every day, and will guide them to become pro-active/studentcentered educators of tomorrow."
