Teen Arrested for Marijuana Possession
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the June 15, 2006 arrest of a Town of Putnam Valley youth for possession of marijuana-related paraphernalia.
At about 12 am on June 15th, Deputy Sheriff Robert Detlefs was dispatched to a noise complaint at a Brookdale Road residence in the Town of Putnam Valley. While investigating the complaint, Deputy Detlefs observed the 18-yearold defendant walk from the house and head towards a vehicle parked in the driveway. The defendant proceeded to open the vehicle and remove a homemade device used to smoke marijuana.
The deputy charged the teen with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation punishable by a fine of up to $100. The defendant was released on his own recognizance pending a June 27th appearance in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court.
