Reptile Expo Returns to Westchester County Center

Reptiles as pets will be the focus of the NY Metro Reptile Expo at the Westchester County Center in White Plains on Sunday, July 9th, from 10am to 4pm. The expo has recently expanded, and will now include more than 200 tables featuring exhibitors, vendors, and reptile breeders from all over the United States. On display will be thousands of live pet reptiles and amphibians. These range from small frogs and Bearded Dragon lizards to larger boas and monitor lizards. Many of these animals will be available for sale as pets. Some breeders will be exhibiting snakes with new rare color phases worth many thousands of dollars.

Reptile book dealers, cage builders, and pet supply companies selling heaters, lighting, and other reptile care supplies will also have booths. Regional Herpetological Societies and Reptile Rescue groups will have educational displays, and representatives

available to answer questions on the suitability and needs of reptile pets.

The expo is expected to draw at least 4,000 pet reptile lovers from throughout the Northeast. Recent pet industry surveys have shown that more than 10% of all American households now have one or more pet reptiles, and their popularity is ever increasing. The last expo in White Plains drew more than 5,000 people from 12 states and Canada.

Admission to the expo will be $9 for adults, $4 for children 7 to 12. Children under 7 are free. The Westchester County Center is conveniently located in White Plains at 198 Central Avenue, at the corner of Rt. 119, just off of I-287 exit 5. The expo is wheelchair accessible.

For more information, please call Animal Encounters at 845-526-4845 or e-mail us at Snake114@aol.com. The expo web site is: www.reptileexpo.com.
