PVCSD Receives Positive "No Child Left Behind" Report

The Putnam Valley Central School District (PVCSD) has been notified by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) that under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, Putnam Valley Elementary School and Putnam Valley Middle School are considered to be in "good standing" for the 2006-2007 school year. This determination is based on PVCSD passage rates on the 2004-2005 NYSED assessments in English/Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science.

Putnam Valley's secondary school status will be announced in September of

2006. Additionally, in November of 2006 the District will receive notification from NYSED regarding how Elementary and Middle School students fared on 2005-06 assessments in English/Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. The two performance indexes for each of these content areas will be based on the total performance of the students in these two buildings.

For more information, contact Dr. Barbara Fuchs, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, at Bfuchs@pvcsd.org or 5288143.
