Saunders Complaint Should be Dropped To the Editor:
The recent news reports of the arrest of Sandy Saunders are deeply disturbing to me. I was in the Saunders barn (both the upper and lower part) myself earlier in the month of June, a few weeks before the complainant allegedly saw a "cesspool of manure and flies." I saw nothing even remotely disturbing or out of the normal course for a barn in a working farm.
I don't know the people involved on the prosecution side of this matter, but this whole incident appears to be the result of an overreaction by the complainant, who may be unfamiliar with farm life, coupled with an overzealous "gotcha" mindset of the authorities.
I hope that when responsible members of the justice system review this matter, the right decision will be made and the matter will be dropped entirely. Based on what I've seen with my own eyes, Mr. Saunders shouldn't be required to go through one more day with the threat of imprisonment and a heavy financial burden weighing him down.
