Blessing of the Animals Service at St. Philip's

St. Philip's Church in the Highlands, across Route 9D from the Garrison School, will be holding its Service of the Blessing of the Animals this Sunday, October 8, at 10:30am. Parishioners, guests and newcomers are invited to bring their pets and other animals to the service itself. There will be special readings and music and a special 'animal friendly' message by the Rector, Frank Geer. The service will conclude with a procession of the animals

around the historic St. Philip's Churchyard and 'coffee hour' treats for animals and people alike.

The Service of the Blessing of the Animals is held on or near the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. The service at St. Philip's honors the memory of Ron Scott, an animal rights activist who lived in Philipstown and was a special friend of all our animals, domestic and wild.
