Haldane Football wins Homecoming with a 16-6 Victory

The week of Homecoming 2006 came to a joyous end on Saturday afternoon for the Haldane Varsity football team. Using scouting reports as motivation, the team prepared all week hoping to upset the Bronxville Broncos. The hard work payed off.

With the opening coin toss being differed by Bronxville, Haldane proceeded to march 60 yards on the opening drive, which was then capped off by a 4-yard touchdown run by Mark LeMon, and a 2 point conversion pass from Adam Beard to Derek O'Dell, giving the Devils an early 8-0 lead.

The excited Devils faithful were quickly hushed on the next play as the Broncos scored on a 65-yard kick-off return. The conversion try was no good and the Devils took a 8-6 lead into the 3rd Quarter.

Still feeling they needed to have a big play the coaches of Haldane had Mark LeMon

onside kick with hope for a Haldane recovery. It worked and John Moss landed on the football at the Bronco 46. On a 10-play drive which ended on a Mike Thorpe 10-yard touchdown, the Devils had a little breathing room. Beard hit a wide open Robert Perk in the end zone to cap the scoring 16- 6.

With ball control on offense the Blue Devils forced the Broncos to throw the ball. The Devils responded by picking off 3 passes. O'Dell, M. LeMon, and Rafael Famighetti all had interceptions ending Bronco Drives.

Haldane still has 3 games left and seem to be getting stronger and more confident with each passing week. Friday night they travel to Albertus Magnus in Rockland County. Come watch an exciting team - the players and coaches appreciate your support.
