Cold Spring to Host Second Public Forum on Creating New Master Plan
On Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 at 7 pm, at the Cold Spring Fire House on Main Street, Cold Spring Mayor Anthony Phillips and the Board of Trustees will host a public forum in the ongoing process of creating a new Master Plan for the Village.
The forum, the second of a series of informative public sessions, will feature remarks by Stacey Matson-Zuvic, restoration coordinator for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and Katherine Daniels, senior planner for the New York Planning Federation. Ms. Matson-Zuvic, a Cold Spring resident, will talk about historic preservation in the planning process for small communities. Ms. Daniels, who is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Geography and Planning at SUNY Albany, will discuss the type of services the New York Planning Federation can provide a small village pursuing a Master Plan. She will likewise explain how a LWRP - Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan - can relate to a Master Plan. James E. Thomashower, CAE, will serve as facilitator for the event. Mr. Thomashower, a resident of Philipstown, also acted in that capacity in the first forum on Sept. 25. The program will allow ample time for questions and answers.
Local citizens who cannot attend the meeting are encouraged to contact the Cold Spring Village Clerk (265-3611) to learn of future Master Plan events and activities.
"This process will work best and truly succeed only with the full participation of village residents," said Trustee Karn Dunn, who is coordinating Master Plan activity for the board. "That's why we're seeking everyone interested, hoping to tap their talents. When completed, the Master Plan will represent our vision for Cold Spring - and how to achieve it. Thus it's crucial that everyone get involved now."
