Brother Professes Final Vows to the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement at Graymoor

On October 7, 2006, Brother Raymond Luis, SA, professed perpetual vows of poverty, chastity and obedience in front of the Friars and Sisters of the Atonement, family and friends in the Little Flower Chapel at Graymoor in Garrison. Raised in the Philippines, Bro. Raymond worked in the Personnel Department of the Land Bank of the Philippines and studied with the Divine Word Fathers before joining the Friars.

He received the habit and began his novitiate in August, 2002, then studied at both the St. Francis Novitiate at Graymoor and the Internovitiate at Mariandale, Ossining, NY, before professing his first vows in August 2003. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity degree at Regis College in Toronto, Canada. The Very Reverend James F. Puglisi, SA, Minister General of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, presided over the profession.

The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement are a religious order of brothers and priests founded in 1898 at Graymoor in Garrison, by Father Paul Wattson. Their worldwide ministries include Christian unity; interfaith dialogue among Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Buddhists; serving the homeless and those suffering from alcoholism, drug addictions, and HIV/AIDS; preaching the gospel in parishes around the world, and offering respite and hope to those in need of spiritual renewal.
