Meditation and Dharma Talk to be Held at St. Mary's

On Saturday, October 21st, Bonnie Myotai Treace, Sensei of Hermitage Heart Zen will offer the second of three classes and meditation sessions scheduled for this Fall at St. Mary's Church in Cold Spring. The classes and sessions are open to the public, and offered at no charge.

Anyone who would like instruction in Buddhist methods for quieting and calming the mind, is invited to come to the Parish Hall at 9am for a brief introduction, followed by a period of meditation.

The morning can also be joined at 10:30am by those already familiar with meditation, and will include a talk on Zen Buddhism followed by several periods of meditation, a community lunch and dialogue. Sensei was for over a decade

the teacher at the Zen Center of New York City, as well as Vice-abbess of Zen Mountain Monastery, and the establishing teacher of Fire Lotus Temple in Brooklyn before founding Hermitage Heart, a lay training dedicated to the development of home-based contemplative life and the discernment of genuine service.

Known for her work with various environmental, poverty, and women's social justice issues, Sensei's teaching draws from a background in Buddhist lineage succession and koan study that involved over twenty years of monastic life. Now resident in Garrison, Sensei leads quarterly week-long retreats for her students from around the country.
