Senator Leibell Honored in New York's Only Environmental Scorecard

On Thursday, October 5, 2006, Senator Vincent Leibell (40th District) received an award from the Environmental Advocates for his work on behalf of environmental issues.

In the annual environmental Voters' Guide released earlier this month by EPL/Environmental Advocates, Senator Leibell was recognized by EPL as one of only two Republicans in the State Senate Majority to sponsor all four of the environmental community's priority Super Bills in 2006.

The Voters' Guide is the only scorecard in New York that records every state lawmaker's votes on environmental bills. In the 2006 Voters' Guide, Senator Leibell earned a 75 for his work to protect the environment, ranking him high among his colleagues in the Senate Majority.

In 2005, Senator Leibell was the only member of the Senate

Majority to sponsor all of the environmental community's Super Bills. "Once again, I am very pleased to be recognized by Environmental Advocates for my efforts in sponsoring their priority Super Bills. I believe that these bills are crucial to successfully protecting New York's most valuable and beautiful resources. I look forward to continuing my work with Environmental Advocates and other conservation groups throughout the state," said Senator Vincent Leibell.

The Voters' Guide is the first and only record of New York State lawmakers' votes on legislation that will impact the environment. The Guide has been produced and distributed statewide for more than 20 years. To view the complete report, visit http:// www.eplvotersguide.org or call (518) 455-3111 for a copy.
