Blue Devils Football Even up Season in 14-12 Win
The Haldane Varsity Football team evened up their win loss record to 3-3 on Saturday by defeating Lincoln Hall United 14-12.
As if being down by 12 points at halftime wasn't injury enough, Senior Fullback Mark LeMon, Junior Steven Lilly and Senior Brian Kane all went down with injuries in the 3rd quarter. But instead of giving up, the Boys in Blue rallied. Freshman Derek O'Dell had 13 carries for 85 yards, scoring Haldane's first points of the day on an 8-yard run. Junior Mike Thorpe scored the second Touchdown ( 14-yard. run) and capped the scoring with a catch from Senior Adam Beard. Senior John Moss had 96 all-purpose yards on the day
Defensively, the Blue Devils settled down in the 2nd half
causing 4 fumbles and 1 interception. Thorpe, Moss, O'Dell and Senior Collin LeMon all recovered fumbles and Freshman Rafael Famigetti caught his 3rd interception of the season placing him among the league leaders. O'Dell and Thorpe controlled the defense with 18 and 15 tackles respectively. Haldane had 12 players in on tackles, making this the most aggressive game this season by far. Senior Will Flaherty and John McGuire also contributed 8 key tackles each.
Next game for the Blue Devils will be at Tuckahoe on Saturday. This game will be a preview of the Sectional Championship game on Nov. 4. that will be played in Mahopac, so make a note of it and show your support by attending and cheering the Blue Devils to victory.
