Ghouls And Goblins Haunt Parrott Street Once Again
Unseasonably warm temperatures tried without success to confuse the spirits which use their ghostly radar to find Parrott Street in Cold Spring every October 31st.
The assemblage of witches, warlocks, vampires and a zombie or two who normally pass for Parrott Street homeowners reported that a steady stream of costumed children came from far and near to raid the candy supplies which awaited. The children summoned up the courage to make their way past bats, skeletons, tombstones, blood-curdling shrieks and various headless things all in the quest for treats.
Once again, thousands of pieces of candy were distributed to a motley crue of youthful pirates, princesses, and gruesome creatures and more than a few unrecognizable grown-ups as well. The Parrott Streeters gratefully received a bounty of candy contributions from the community through the Foodtown donation box and all the goodies collected by the Haldane PTA at the Halloween Parade.
Although most of the scary stuff had strangely vanished from Parrott Street by November 1st, indications are that if you dare to come back next October 31st, more fearsome frights will come back to haunt you.
