Barbershop Harmony Society Seeks Singers
The Barbershop Harmony Society is a group of men throughout the U.S.A. and Canada who specialize in a cappella singing, or, barbershop music.
The Poughkeepsie Newyorkers Barbershop Chorus, the only representatives of the Hudson Valley to the Barbershop Harmony Society, came in 10th in a field of 23, in the International Chorus Preliminaries and District Quartet Convention in Providence, Rhode Island on October 27 & 28, 2006. (A group of 800+ men). 'Swing Shift' which is a Quartet of the Poughkeepsie Newyorkers Chapter, came in 8th in a field of 28 Quartets competing at the same event.
They've been told they would undoubtedly fare better if they had a larger chorus. As it is they have only 23 members in their chorus and are competing with chorus' who have up to 160 men. If you think you'd like to join them, contact Scott Salladin 845-471-5845 or 845- 790-3339 for information.
