Lions Club Still Helping In Slidell With Long Process Of Recovery from Katrina

A Slidell home with the roof repaired, debris at the curb and the interior waiting to be repaired in October, 2006
Fourteen months after Katrina, the residents of Slidell are still victims as they attempt to restore their homes to pre- Katrina. The devastation that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita spread across the Gulf Coast last year still hangs over much of New Orleans.

The recent smattering of good news out of the city - Mardi Gras, the New Orleans' Saints return to the Superdome - might mislead people to believe that all is well. It is not. There is a continual need for help. Neighborhoods are not back.

To help our neighbors return to some form of normalcy, the Cold Spring Lions Club is continuing to raise funds for the victims. If you can afford $5 or more, please forward the funds to Lion Frank Milkovich, 55 Healy Road, Cold Spring, NY 10516. Make checks payable to the Cold Spring Lions Club. All funds will be forwarded to the Slidell Lions Club for 100% distribution to those in need.
