Open House at Stony Kill "An Old Fashioned Country Holiday"
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Stony Kill Environmental Education Center announces a holiday open house from Noon until 4pm on Thursday, December 28, 2006. This event is free of charge and designed for all age groups.
Take a tour of the grand manor house decked out for the holidays by the Verplanck Garden Club, and enjoy live music by the Tigerlilly Trio or storytelling about the wonders of nature. If the weather cooperates, there will be hayrides to the farm where we'll have an exhibit showing different types of birds, beaks, and bird food. Enjoy an environmental puppet show by Greensleave Productions, learn about nature crafts, old fashioned candle dipping, corn grinding and, of course, meet our farm animals. Refreshments are free, and there is no need to pre-register for this program. For more information, contact 845-831-8780, ext. 300 or check out our website at www.dec.state.ny.us for our calendar of events.
