New Jersey Man Facing Suspended License Charge

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B, Smith reports the November 25, 2006 arrest of Roberto Fernando, 53, of St. Pauls Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey, on a charge of driving with a suspended license in the Town of Philipstown.

At about 6pm on November 25th, Deputy Sheriff Jesse Wollman was patrolling along Route 403 in Philipstown when he stopped a vehicle that did not have license plates displayed and found Mr. Fernando at the wheel. During the traffic

stop, the deputy learned that the driver had his driving privileges suspended for an insurance lapse and failing to pay a fine in New York City.

Mr, Fernando was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to thirty days in jail and a fine of up to $500, as well as further sanctions against the offender's driving privileges. Mr. Fernando was released without bail, pending a future appearance in the Philipstown Justice Court.
