PVHS Cheerleaders Shine in Regional Competition

Congratulations to the Putnam Valley High School (PVHS) Varsity Cheerleaders for a fantastic job on Monday, November 27th, of the 58th annual Invitational Cheerleading Competition at Westchester County Center, in White Plains.
The event provided about $20,000 in college scholarship money to 16 teenagers, who were awarded the funds the Annette Hroncich Memorial Scholarship, named after the Parks Department employee who spearheaded the event and who passed away several months ago.
PVHS senior Kelly Parsons won a $1,600 scholarship based on her academics, community and school involvement,
cheerleading skills, and a personal interview. Not only was she chosen for this prestigious award, but she was also given the opportunity to appear on CBS news Wednesday morning.
Kelly is the first student from Putnam Valley to be awarded this scholarship in more than a decade. Varsity cheerleading coach Jaime Ferrucio stated, "It's hard say in one quote what is special about Kelly Parsons. She's kind, enthusiastic, hard working, spirited, loyal, and a tremendous asset to our squad. This is my third year coaching Kelly and I can't express how much she will be missed next year. Kelly truly is the spirit of cheerleading!"
