Putnam Valley High School Mixed Choir to Perform Bernstein Concert in Yorktown
On Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at 7:30pm, the Putnam Valley High School Mixed Choir, under the direction of Gerard Micera, will be hosting a special concert featuring Leonard Bernstein’s choral work, Chichester Psalms, at St. Patrick’s Church, 137 Moseman Avenue, in Yorktown Heights, NY. Admission is free. Chichester Psalms is a challenging musical work that incorporates all or part of six psalms in three movements. The work
was commissioned for the July 1965 Southern Cathedrals’ Festival, in England, but debuted earlier that year at Philharmonic Hall, in New York City. This presentation is arranged for organ, harp, percussion and chorus, featuring soloists from the Mixed Choir and a guest solo appearance from a young boy soprano from Putnam Valley Elementary School.
