Putnam Arts Council Awards $18,430 of State Dollars to County Arts Groups
The Putnam Arts Council is pleased to announce that it has awarded $18,430 in state dollars to eight non-profit organizations to support cultural programs and services that take place in Putnam County in 2007. State support is provided through the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, which is administered in Putnam County by the Putnam Arts Council.
Each year, a volunteer panel of artists, educators, business and community members review the many requests submitted by local arts groups to the Decentralization program. The panel then recommends funding for the projects it feels reach a broad audience, generate the most benefit to the community and support the professional development of artists and arts groups.
The Putnam Arts Council also administers a similar grant program entitled the Putnam Arts Fund which re-grants county dollars. Recipients for 2007 will be announced later in December.
