The Chapel of Our Lady Restoration Awarded Second NYSCA Grant
The Chapel of Our Lady Restoration is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant of $12,000 by the New York State Council on the Arts to fund the second phase of design for a Chancery Building on Chapel property.
The structure, which will be discreetly situated so as to retain the 1833 restored Chapel as the primary focus of the site, will house a combination meeting room/office/archive, a dressing room for program participants and wedding parties, and much-needed rest rooms. The design offers a comprehensive plan for the overall site with improvements to pathways and out door public spaces. NYSCA previously awarded the Chapel $10,500 to fund the initial design phase of the project.
The Chancery, designed by Newburgh architect Peter Smith, will enable the Chapel to better serve the community by providing support facilities with improved access and amenities. The Board of the Chapel is grateful to NYSCA for its financial support and its expression of confidence in the Chapel’s mission for the future. Contributions to the building fund from members of the community are welcome. Please call 265.5537 for details.
