Haldane Wrestlers Prevail at Season Opening Tournament
On December 2, four Haldane Wrestlers, with their new Coach, Garth Merandy, trucked to Rye High School for the Bernie Miller Invitational. Participating schools included Collegiate, Croton-Harmon, Hackley, Haldane, Hastings, Horace Mann, Irvington, Pleasantville, Rye, Saunders and Scarsdale.
Eight hours later, after fighting their way throughout brackets, quarter finals, semi-finals, consolation finals and finals, all four Haldane Wrestlers were
having their names announced at the closing awards ceremony. Placements were as follows: Junior Jamie Kinnaird (130 lbs) Second Place; Senior Adam Beard (135 lbs) Second Place; Senior Christos Zouzias (170 lbs) Third Place; and Senior Collin LeMon (215 lbs) First Place.
New members to the Wrestling Team Freshman DJ Susi (96 lbs) and Freshman John McGuire (189lbs) will be geared up for January’s dual meets and tournaments.
