Jessie Hammond, Proprietor of Hammond’s Grocery Store, Celebrates her 90th
Jessie Hammond was surprised with a party on Saturday December 9th on the occasion of her 90th birthday. The party was held at Wingate of Beacon, where she has resided for the past year. Approximately 70 people attended, coming from Arizona, New Jersey, Connecticut and New York. On her actual birthday, December 7th, she was the recipient of many cards and floral arrangements from many of her friends in the Cold Spring area.
Jessie and her husband Elliott, who passed away in
2003, were the proprietors of Hammond’s Grocery Store at 106 Main Street for many years. I’m sure there are those still living in Cold Spring who remember going into the store and receiving a piece of bubble gum, a lollipop or a popsicle in the summer from Jessie.
Jessie has three children, 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren who helped her celebrate. Many thanks to all her friends and family who helped to make the day special to her just by their presence.
