Putnam County Land Trust Begins the New Year with a Hike up Mt. Ninham on January 1st

Start the New Year with a hike! Join the Putnam County Land Trust for a brisk jaunt up Mt. Ninham in Kent. Those who wish may climb the recently renovated fire tower to view the scenic Putnam landscape and beyond from atop the restored fire tower. On a clear day, the New York City skyline is visible. The restoration of this fire tower was accomplished through the efforts of the Kent Conservation Advisory Committee.

There will be an optional lunch after the hike at a local

home. Heavy rain, snow or ice cancels. There is no fee for this event. Please call 845 228 5635 for further information and to register for lunch (space limited).

Directions: Meet 10 AM, Monday, January 1st at the Mt. Ninham Multiple Use Area parking lot. From Route 301 in Carmel, turn onto Gypsy Trail Road. Continue for 2.2 miles. Look for sign on left for Mt. Ninham Multiple Use area and take left onto road. Continue ˝ mile up hill to parking area and gate at trailhead.
