Brewster Man Charged with Grand Larceny
Putnam County Sheriff Smith reports the December 20, 2006 arrest of a Village of Brewster resident on a charge of grand larceny. According to the Sheriff, on December 19, 2006, the Sheriffs Department received a report from a Putnam County resident that money was withdrawn from her bank account. Deputy Sheriff Fred Mark initiated an investigation into the complaint, which revealed John Imor, 43, of Brewster, allegedly went to HSBC Bank in Southeast, and switched the victim’s corporate bank account into his name. Once this transaction was complete, Mr. Imor then withdrew approximately $2,000 from the account.
The matter was subsequently turned over to Investigator Christopher Spiconardi. On December 20th, Investigator Spiconardi arrested Mr. Imor and charged him with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class E felony. Mr. Imor was arraigned by Southeast Town Judge James Borkowski and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Mr. Imor is scheduled to return to the Southeast Court at a future date. Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree is punishable by up to four years’ imprisonment and a maximum fine of $5,000 upon conviction.
