Putnam Valley High School Principal Takes Sabbatical

Putnam Valley High School Principal Raymond Cooper has taken a sabbatical from the school district in order to pursue his doctorate, according to Cooper who announced his decision to the staff during an early morning meeting on Monday, February 12, 2007. He was unable to be contacted at the high school by the PCN&R for a statement later that day because he had already left the premises. Full Story

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest on February 6, 2007 of a Queens man on a statutory rape charge. Mr. Cannell Jerome, aged 22, of the Rosedale section of Queens, is accused of having sex with a 13-year-old Putnam Valley girl whom he encountered on the Internet. Full Story
Collision on Rte 9 Leaves One Dead, Two Seriously Injured
Local model train expert, Fadde, hurt in Garrison Accident
A tragic head-on collision on Route 9 in Garrison in the morning of February 8, 2007 led to one fatality and left two people seriously injured. The accident took place just south of Papa John's restaurant. John Delehanty, 32, of Hopewell Junction died in the crash after being trapped in his Hyundai Elantra. Full Story
