The March 15, 2007 meeting of the Putnam Valley Board of Education saw the unveiling of the district's proposed 2007-8 budget, which increases 5.46 percent from the 2006-7 budget. Based upon current numbers, Putnam Valley taxpayers could expect a 2.49 percent rise in their school taxes, Cortlandt taxpayers a 3.93 percent rise and Carmel taxpayers a 6.52 percent rise. 12-Year-Old Cold Spring Girl Struck by Car While Crossing Route 9
At about 8:20am on March 15, 2007, a 12-year-old Philipstown girl was injured after being struck by two vehicles as she crossed Route 9 in Philipstown. The Putnam County Sheriff's Department reports that Deputy Sheriff Christopher Pollard was on patrol along Route 9 in Philipstown when he observed two vehicles stopped in the roadway after they each struck a pedestrian.
