Mobile Crisis Intervention Plan Receives Unanimous Support and Moves Closer to Approval

Director of Social Services Mike Piazza and members of the Mobile Crisis Intervention Task Force received a warm response at the County Legislature's April 10, 2007 Health Committee meeting when they gave an update on implementation of a 24-hour crisis hotline. With the help of a $5,000 federal grant, a feasibility study will soon be completed to determine what options exist for improving the safety along the stretch of Route 9D from the Village of Cold Spring to the Breakneck Ridge underpass. Long Week for Emergency Personnel
Electrical wires burn hole in the road on Route 9
Last week's storm made for a very long week for local emergency personnel in Philipstown and Putnam Valley. The Continental Village Volunteer Fire Department responded to 23 calls, fourteen of them on Monday, helping residents pump water out of their homes. Full Story
Putnam Valley Arts Presents "Open Mike Night" at Lake Peekskill Community Center
Of all the events Putnam Valley Arts puts on "Open Mike Night" is the most fun says Bob Cinque, guitarist, singer, and PV Arts member. This year's "Open Mike Night" is being held at the Lake Peekskill Community Center on Saturday, April 28, 2007 starting at 6pm when performers are encouraged to show up and sign in. PV School District Lowers Proposed Tax Rate Increase
Putnam Valley Sees 1%, Cortlandt 1.13% and Carmel 3.62 % increases
At the April 19, 2007 meeting of the Putnam Valley Board of Education, Superintendent Gary Tutty announced that the proposed 2007/08 school budget would rise by $100,000 to $40,945,232, yet taxpayers would be paying less of a school tax increase than when the budget was lower. The new budget-to-budget increase is 5.33 percent. Full Story

"Cold Spring is my place of birth and I attended Haldane, K through 12, graduating with the class of 1977. While I attended Haldane, my mother, Paula Gallagher, was a junior high and high school math teacher at Haldane.
