St. Basil Files Suit Against Garrison School District Alleging Civil Rights Discrimination
Responding to a Complaint filed in Albany by the Garrison School District seeking a Declaratory Judgment, on April 5, 2007 St. Basil Academy filed a counterclaim alleging that the Garrison School District has engaged in "unconstitutional discrimination" against the children living at the Academy. Shields Picked for Three All Star Teams and 'Player of the Year'
Haldane star Brittany Shields completed a great basketball season with a series of honors bestowed on her in late March and early April. Shields was selected to the second team All-State Basketball by the New York Sportswriters Association. Philipstown Soccer Club Season Opens With Success
The field at St. Basils was freshly lined and the corner flags were up last Sunday as the Philipstown Soccer Club began season #2. The Lady Knights opened against the Rivertowns Thunder and a very exhausting game ended in a 0- 0 tie. The Knights' Savannah O'Malley sent shot after shot to the Thunder goal but could not get one in the back of the net. Full Story
Philipstown Pirates Win Two Games in Senior League Weekend Action
Team starts season 3-0
The Philipstown Pirates, 15 and 16 year old division, sponsored by Powers and Haar Inc, hosted Fishkill Carting at Mayors Park on April 28. Kyle Van Tassel took the hill for his first season start teaming up with Nick Torchia (catcher). Van Tassel pitched a gem giving up only two hits and whiffing 9 Fishkill batters. Full Story
Vera V. Harman
Vera V. Harman, age 80 of Nelsonville, died on Monday May 1, 2007 at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Born in Cold Spring, on May 11, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Richard C. and Katherine V. (Scullion) Harman. Vera was a life long Cold Spring area resident, a communicant of Our Lady of Loretto parish and retired from Verizon Corp. after a varied career in management. Full Story
