Father and Son Named Continental Village Firefighters of the Year
At the December 2007 monthly meeting of the Continental Village Fire Department, two members of the CVFD were chosen to receive awards as Firefighter of the Year in two different categories. Andrew Pepe, 17, who attends Walter Panas High School in Cortland, was chosen as the Junior Firefighter of the Year. Junior Firefighter being anyone between the ages of 16 + 17. Full Story

Two Teens Hospitalized After Falling Through Ice on Tonetta Lake
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports that two eighteen-year-old boys have been hospitalized after plunging through the ice on Tonetta Lake in Brewster on December 11. A sheriff 's deputy and a pair of good Samaritans are credited with the teenagers' rescue. Full Story
Dutchess County Woman Charged in Rash of Thefts on Route 9
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Town of Fishkill woman after an investigation by Sheriff's Department Patrol Deputies revealed that she was responsible for a series of thefts from businesses along Route 9 in the Town of Philipstown. Full Story

The Town of Philipstown Year-End Meeting will take place on December 27, 2007 at 7:30pm at the VFW Hall on Kemble Ave. Due to the holidays, the Village of Cold Spring will be picking up garbage on Monday, December 24 and Monday December 31.
