Putnam County Health Department Urges All to Make a Renewed Effort to Quit Smoking in 2007
New Years is a time when many smokers make a renewed effort to try to quit smoking. This year, rather than quit alone, pick up the phone and get some help. The New York State Smokers’ Quitline at 1-866- NY-QUITS (1-866-697-8487) offers free confidential counseling.

Trained stop smoking specialists are available weekdays from 9am to 9pm and weekends from 9am to 1pm. If you call during off-hours you can leave a message and they will call you back. Callers can also order a free stop smoking guide or listen to the daily quit tip.
